On...life and other important things
On People :
This week I attended the 3rd going away party I've been invited to since arriving in New York City. I hope this sudden flux of people leaving the city doesn't have too much to do with my arrival in it.
On the approaching summer :
The city is getting warm, really warm. After 5 years of cloud in England I refuse to complain about the sun, but already the nights are sticky and I've been able to justify frozen yogurt for dinner. Twice.
On New York life :
I attended a conference at Internet Week New York for work (i.e. the East Coast's attempt to be as cool as Silicon Valley) and met two interesting American internet entrepreneurs, one Indian guy and one Peruvian (among others who made much less of an impression). We went to dinner and covered topics as varied as targeted internet ads to the skinny women who plague New York's streets (and it wasn't even I who brought up this subject - but I was happy to know that I am not the only one to notice). Following dinner they helped me crash a media party (being cool, I was the only one without a ticket). At the party bands were playing, the bar was open and Google was showing off. It was all very Gatsby-esque. The party closed at 1am, late night pizza was had and promises of seeing each other again were made. I was home by 2am. Relatively average for a New York night, until you take into account that this was a Monday. Yes, a Monday.
On Tuesday :
I learned that 30 is NOT the new 20. (according to Ted and his talks, anyway)

Time to get my act together.
So I bought flowers for the apartment. That is an 'adult' thing to do, right?
On a completely random point :
The
New Kids On The Block
are back.
I'm Serious.
And I kinda love it.
