January Round-Up
Wow. What a month.
What a loooong month.
I know I will not be able to fully articulate all of the emotions, from laughter to tears, which shaped this month.
January 2015 feels as if the year itself has gone by in just these past 30ish days. So much life has happened, and yet here we still are - in January. In this month I've laughed, I've cried, I've stretched myself and I've lived in my comforts. I've fulfilled promises to myself and began seeking out new dreams.
And that all sounds so... very dramatic.
So, rather than attempt to explain myself, likely inarticulately, in a drawn out and potentially boring fashion, here is January - a highlight reel of the key happenings and thoughts that took place.
#1. New Year's Eve happened. What a night. Up 'till dawn and worth every minute. That is all I'll say.
#2. I was kicked on the subway by a
.
#3. The next week I was kicked on the subway by a crazy man. (is it me?)
#4. On another occasion the subway doors slammed on me (am I missing the message...?). I have bruises on both sides of my body to prove it. (
Also. For the four-ish seconds that I was caught between the doors of the N train, I legitimately thought the train would take off and my life would be over - another tragic New York tale. BUT, then the doors opened and I made it on the train and my immediate thought was that it was totally worth it
. Such is life when you don't know when, or if, the next train will show up.)
#5. Emotional things happened with boys. The end.
So the next day I ate a bagel and (#6) got my nose pierced. (obviously, the most reasonable response.)
This will be the first and last time I
pay
someone to stick a metal rod through any part of my body.
BUT, true story, I HAVE always wanted my nose pierced. I just
happened
to wake up the next day and decide to just do it. So I did it. Emotional things aside.
nose pierced. pretty picture (neither of these things happen everyday)
#7. During the course of the month, I legitimately had this thought, in a non-ironic way, "
I need to use more emojis."
#8. While shopping with a friend for her Jimmy Choo wedding shoes. She bought nothing, I left that afternoon of shopping having purchased a chicken vase. Yes, a chicken vase. (NOT a Jimmy Choo chicken vase... in case you were wondering.)
#9. I got an iPhone 6. I then immediately felt guilty for ignoring my iPhone 4 (we had so many good times.)
#10. My landlady told me that the most important person living in my household was Tika - the French bulldog. The dog. The dog is the most important person in the apartment. And she didn't even
try
to pretend that our dog
wasn't
the only reason she was allowing us to renew our lease.
#11. I signed up for a half marathon.
Another one of those 'just do it' moments.
$90 later, I now spend my evenings running in the cold, in a city where the air hurts my face.
My face hurts.
#12. I woke up at 5am so I could stand in line in the cold to watch a taping of "So You Think You Can Dance?"
Don't ask questions and do not judge me. Paula Abdul was there.
#13. #theblizzardof2015 happened. And then it didn't happen.
I've never been so disappointed that disaster didn't strike.
The blizzard that wasn't
Here's to February. Love on.
